First-year students must have completed all onboarding steps and have met with their academic advisor. Your academic advisor will assist you with signing up for orientation.
Transfer students are able to sign up using the link on neiu.edu/orientation, however, we strongly recommend that you meet with your advisor and register for courses before attending orientation.
Please note that advisors will not be available to help you register at orientation; you must schedule a separate appointment.
First-year students can visit neiu.edu/advising to learn more and reach out to an advisor. Students who are in the general freshman program will be advised by the Advising Center. Students in a success program will be advised within their success program advisor. Transfer students who are unsure of their major can visit the Advising Center advising@neiu.edu.
Otherwise, all transfer students should reach out to an advisor in the academic area of interest. A full list is available here.
Please email orientation@neiu.edu to request to be reassigned to another scheduled date that better fits your schedule. Please use the format "Your Name - Orientation Reschedule" for your email subject.
Yes. New Student Orientation is an essential part of transitioning to NEIU. The information shared before, during and after the session is critical to you having a successful start and career at NEIU. If we do not already have your final official transcript (showing a graduation date if you recently earned a diploma/degree), we encourage you to submit that after it is available to you. Here is how to submit:
Students do not need to bring anything else to orientation.
Yes, all enrolled students will be assessed a $70 mandatory orientation fee. If students have financial aid that covers tuition and fees, that includes the orientation fee.
