Family Orientation

We are excited to welcome your child as a first-year student at Northeastern Illinois University! Congratulations! This is a big step in your child’s academic and professional career, and we encourage you to participate in our Orientation for students and families.

Family Orientation is a part of First-Year Orientation, and it provides a few presentations to emphasize the importance of family involvement and support in a student’s life.

Family encouragement and support play a crucial role in ensuring a student’s academic success. The more knowledgeable you are about Northeastern’s college experience, the better prepared you will be to support your student's educational goals.

Family Orientation gives you the opportunity to:

  • learn more about Northeastern
  • experience our beautiful campus firsthand
  • understand what your student will experience in college
  • discover various academic programs and services available to your student

Please keep in mind that there is no cost for Family Orientation, but your child will be assessed a $70 non-refundable fee for First-Year Orientation, which is added to his or her first semester’s tuition bill.

Parking and Directions

Complimentary parking is available for Family and First-Year Orientations on the 5th floor of the Parking Facility. Please view our Campus Map and Directions page for driving directions.
